Jim Glatch_01-03-12March 1 - The United States has nominated 12 athletes to compete at the London 2012 Paralympic Games wheelchair basketball tournament.

The nominations were made following a tryout camp at SPIRE Institute in Mentor, Ohio.

"This is such a competitive squad, they really push each other to make the team stronger as a whole," said head coach Jim Glatch (pictured).

"We plan to spend the next six months developing the cohesiveness of the team, building line-ups and really focusing on how we all work together.

"The goal is to have that translate to a medal in London."

The wheelchair basketball tournament, taking place at both the North Greenwich Arena and Basketball Arena, runs from August 30 to September 8.

The US will compete in Pool A at the Paralympics, against holders Australia, Italy, Spain, Turkey and South Africa.

In Beijing 2008, the US lost to Britain in the bronze medal match, having been beaten by Canada in the semi-finals.

Full squad: Eric Barber, Joe Chambers, Nate Hinze, Trevon Jenifer, Jeremy Lade, Ian Lynch, Jason Nelms, Paul Schulte, Matt Scott, Steve Serio, Josh Turek, Will Waller.
