The women will be particularly optimistic of winning gold in London after their victory at the IBSA World Championships in Antalya, Turkey, last year.

Ashlie Andrews and Jillian MacSween, both key members of that team, are joined by Nancy Morin, Cassandra Orgeles, Amy Kneebone (pictured above) and Whitney Bogart.

Kneebone, Bogart and MacSween also played in the team that claimed bronze at last year's Parapan Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.

The team's head coach is Janice Dawson, assisted by Natalie Scott.

The men will also be in contention for a medal at the Games having come third last year at the World Championships.


Mario Caron (pictured above, in goal) will be competing in his seventh Paralympic Games for Canada, and is joined by Brendan Gaulin, Bruno Haché, Ahmad Zeividavi, Doug Ripley and Simon Tremblay.

Gaulin was the youngest member of the team which went to Beijing four years' ago, and competed with Haché and Caron when Canada were thrashed 10-0 in the quarter finals by Lithuania.

The men's coach is Danny Snow with Robert Lebel acting as his assistant.

"I am very pleased to have once again two excellent Goalball teams coming to the Games," said Team Canada Chef de Mission, Gaétan Tardif.

"I can't wait to watch their amazing display of strength and agility as they compete against the best in the world."
