Goalball Classic_1_24_JulyJuly 25 - Canada has won the fourth International Goalball Classic in Alabama, the United States, with a crushing win over Japan.

Canada beat the Japanese 4-1 to bring an entertaining end to what had been an open tournament.

The US defeated Brazil to take third place with a 3-1 victory.

The tournament had begun with the US being beaten by Denmark and Canada overcoming Brazil 2-1.

Japan also beat Denmark to make a good start, and followed that up with a draw against the Canadians.

The Japanese then lost 3-0 to the US, while Canada drew again, 2-2 with Denmark.

Brazil were stunned by Japan in the semi-finals while Canada overcame the US at the same stage.

The US won gold at the Beijing 2008 Paralympics, although on the basis of this tournament London 2012 could be won by a number of nations.

Other strong goalball competitors, such as Finland and world champions China, were not present, while the likes of Sweden and Germany should also be strong in London.
