September 3 - London 2012 hero David Weir will appear at the National Paralympic Day celebrations on September 7Three more British stars - David Weir, Sophie Christiansen and Oliver Hynd - will appear at the National Paralympic Day celebrations on September 7 as the athletes were today added to the line-up for the event.

The multiple Paralympic medallists will join a host of athletes at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, including the likes of London 2012 discus champion Aled Davies, table tennis silver and bronze medallists Will Bayley and Aaron McKibbin, newly-crowned swimming world champion Amy Marren and javelin world title holder Hollie Arnold.

Wheelchair racer Weir, who at London 2012 added four Paralympic titles to his two from Beijing 2008, is looking forward to going back to the scene of his momentous triumph last year.

"National Paralympic Day will provide an opportunity for everyone to relive the excitement that surrounded the Paralympic Games last year and I think it's going to be a great day," said the six-time world champion.

"I'm absolutely delighted that I will be back in the Olympic Park as part of the celebrations for National Paralympic Day.

"I got to race in the Park almost every day of London 2012 so it will be amazing to be back there this weekend, once again celebrating with the British public."

Organised by London Mayor Boris Johnson, the London Legacy Development Corporation and the British Paralympic Association (BPA), National Paralympic Day marks the one year anniversary of the 2012 Paralympics and includes Johnson's Liberty Festival - an annual showcase of deaf and disabled artists.

Highlights of the Liberty Festival include "The Limbless Knight", an aerial and sway performance from award-winning theatre company Graeae, whose artistic director Jenny Sealey co-directed last year's Paralympic Opening Ceremony.

There will also be a special appearance from Andrea Begley, who won this year's The Voice.

Entry to the Olympic Park is free allowing fans to experience the atmosphere, try different sports and enjoy the Liberty Festival, while getting the chance to meet Paralympic athletes who will be participating in a range of activities on the day.

There will also be a number of sold-out elite events taking place at the Copper Box Arena, which will see some of Britain's Paralympic stars competing in exhibition matches against Greece in boccia, Brazil in table tennis, the Netherlands in sitting volleyball and France in wheelchair basketball.

"I think it's really exciting that we have the opportunity to celebrate National Paralympic Day for the first time," said five-time Paralympic equestrian champion Christiansen, who is just back from the European Championships in Denmark where she picked up another three gold medals.

"At London 2012, the country showed its love for Paralympic sport and the sale of tickets for National Paralympic Day has proved the continued interest and support.

"The great thing is that you don't need a ticket to get involved on National Paralympic Day.

"I'm looking forward to meeting visitors to the park on September 7 and soaking up what I'm sure will be an incredible atmosphere.

"With so much happening on the Park that day, there really should be something for everyone to enjoy."
