Sir Philip is among a number of Portuguese and international guests invited to the gathering, due to take place at the Escola Superior De Tecnologia Da Saúde in Lisbon on October 24 and 25.

The two-day event aims to promote the development of physical activity, while developing a deeper knowledge both in theory and practice about Paralympic sport in the country.

The theme of the event will be equality, inclusion and sports excellence, and is open to athletes, coaches, managers and others with an interest in the Paralympic Movement.

Portugal made its debut at the 1972 Paralympic Games in Heidelberg, Germany, and has appeared at eight editions since then.

It has won a total of 88 medals, 25 gold, 30 silver and 33 bronze.

Its most successful Games came at Sydney 2000, where it claimed 15 medals, including six golds.

José Alves, José Gameiro, Carlos Lopes and Gabriel Potra secured gold in the men's T13 4x400 metres relay at those Games, while Lopes and Potra took top honours in the T11 400m and T12 200m respectively.

The men's T11 marathon gold was won by Carlos Amaral Ferreira and Paulo de Almeida Coelho triumphed in the men's T11 1,500m.

Away from the track, José Macedo was crowned champion in the BC3 boccia mixed individual event.

At London 2012, Macedo was part of the BC3 mixed pairs squad that claimed silver, alongside Luis Silva and Armando Costa, while he also claimed bronze in the individual event.

Lenine Cunha won Portugal's only other medal at London 2012, a bronze in the men's F20 long jump.

Portugal has never medalled at a Winter Paralympic Games.
