Panasonic has signed a worldwide partnership deal with the International Paralympic Committee ©PanasonicElectronic giants Panasonic Corporation has signed a deal to become a worldwide partner of the International Paralympic Committee through until Tokyo 2020.

IPC President Sir Philip Craven was in the Japanese capital to sign the agreement with Panasonic executive officer in charge of groupwide brand communications division, Satoshi Takeyasu.

The agreement will see Panasonic supply televisions, audio-visual equipment for broadcast/professional use, AV storage media, car navigation and related car multimedia equipment and AV security equipment.

In addition, the partnership extends to cover a range of disability products such as The Shower and Wearable Powered Suit.

For these products, Panasonic has acquired global marketing rights with the Paralympic Movement in conjunction with the Paralympic Games.

Panasonic says it will look to give versatile support to the athletes and the operations of the Paralympic Games in conjunction with its products, services and technical assistance.

The firm was on official partner of the London 2012 and Sochi 2014 Paralympic Games where it supplied audio and high definition video equipment to the competition venues and media centres.

"We are absolutely delighted that such a prestigious and globally reputable company as Panasonic has signed to become the IPC's latest worldwide Paralympic partner," said Sir Philip.

"In recent years the Paralympic Games has grown into the world's third biggest high performance sporting event in the world.

"Through this partnership with Panasonic I am confident we can consolidate this position and grow the Paralympic Movement to new levels as we build towards the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games."

In February this year Panasonic extended its sponsorship deal as a TOP partner of the International Olympic Committee.

The new agreement with the IOC runs until 2024 and will take in upcoming Olympic Games in Asia, in Pyeongchang in 2018 and the 2020 Games in Tokyo.

"Panasonic renewed its official worldwide Olympic partnership agreement with the International Olympic Committee in February this year," said Takeyasu.

"Together with the first worldwide Paralympic partnership agreement we signed today with IPC, we are extremely happy to be the official worldwide partner for both the Olympic and the Paralympic Movement.
