Tickets will go on sale next Monday for the Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games ©Toronto 2015Tickets for this year's Parapan American Games in Toronto are due to go on sale next Monday (March 23), it was announced today.
 

Toronto 2015 have promised that the Games, due to take place between August 7 and 15, will be affordable and accessible for everyone with prices ranging from CAD$20 (£11/$16/€15) to CAD$35 (£19/$27/€26) for adults.

There will also be limited amount of special prices of CAD$10 (£5/$8/€7) to CAD$12.50 (£7/$10/€9), depending on the event, for those aged under 16 and over 65.

Every event ticket will allow the holder to access transit on the day of the event.

"We're extremely proud and excited that the Toronto 2015 Parapan Am Games will be historic - the largest ever," said Saäd Rafi, chief executive of Toronto 2015.

"I've met many athletes and I've heard their personal stories, and I think seeing these athletes live and up close this summer will change the way people think about sport."

This will be the fifth edition of the Parapan American Games and will feature more than 1,600 athletes from 28 countries competing in 15 sports.

In addition, and for the first time, all sports will be qualifying events for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

Popular events at the Games, such as athletics, swimming, wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby, are expected to draw big crowds.

At the last Parapan American Games in Guadalajara four years ago Canada finished eighth overall in the final medals table with a total of 63 medals, 13 of them gold. 

Brazil came top with 197 medals, 81 of them gold. 

Canada is hoping to do much better at Toronto 2015. 

"The Canadian Paralympic Committee has set the goal of finishing in the top three in the medal count," said Team Canada's Chef de Mission Elisabeth Walker-Young.

"Our Canadian athletes are focused on their final preparations towards confirming their name to our 2015 Parapan Team roster.

"For most, the Parapan Games will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to compete at an elite level on home soil, in front of home crowd spectators.

"The ticket holders should prepare themselves for magical, intense and stunning athletic performances."
