The Pan American route will be 20 kilometres long and will see the region's top cyclists battle it out for gold in the same town that boasts the brand-new Cisco Milton Pan American and Parapan American Velodrome, due to stage the track cycling events.

The course starts and finishes on the Louis St Laurent Avenue and will take place on July 22, with the men completing two laps and the women completing one.

Toronto 2015 has also released details of the Parapan American route, which spans a distance of 10km and the race is scheduled for August 13.

Both courses have been specifically designed to incorporate technical elements that are used at Olympic, Paralympic and major cycling World Championship events.

On March 23, the Organising Committee invited local residents to attend a community engagement session to discuss the issues the races may cause after they announced road closures would be necessary from July 15 to 22 and on August 12 to 13.

Transportation changes were also discussed at the meeting, which was attended by representatives of the Organising Committee, the Ministry of Transportation, the Integrated Security Unit and members of the town of Milton.

Businesses in the affected area have been encouraged to stay open and representatives from any such company were invited to attend a separate session to raise any potential problems.

The meetings continue Toronto 2015's aim to engage as much of the community as possible, with further information sessions planned between now and mid-May.

These follow similar meetings in Toronto, Caledon, Hamilton, Markham, Mississauga, Minden Hills, Mono and Oshawa as the Organising Committees tries to continually keep local residents in the loop as the region prepares to host two of the biggest sporting events in its history.

The Pan American Games begin on July 10 and run through to July 26, while the Parapan American Games are scheduled to take place from August 7 to 15.
