The programme aims to help provide young people from the province of Ontario with unique career development opportunities, including short-term work placements in Toronto 2015.

Additionally the participants will benefit from one-on-one mentoring from an employee a Toronto 2015 sponsor, which includes lead partner CIBC and premier partner Chevrolet, as well as Coca-Cola, General Motors and Loblaw Companies Limited.

The programme forms part of the legacy commitment of the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games and the mentoring opportunities will be geared towards helping young people at the start of their careers to gain a better understanding of corporate culture, while creating vital networking skills.

While taking part in SEEDs, the successful applicants will take on roles in areas such as transportation, press operations and logistics, which Toronto 2015 believe will help participants develop skills in project management, supply chain logistics, client relations and public speaking.

CBC presenters Dwight Drummond, who recently took part in a wheelchair rugby event as the channel released details of their coverage of the Parapan Am Games, and Anne-Marie Mediwake will host the launch event, which will see several mentors and mentees meet for the first time and a mentorship orientation session take place.

There  will also be several keynote speeches from a number of SEEDS mentors and mentees, while other special guests are set to speak at the event and share their inspiring stories with attendees.

Among the attendees will be the Mayor of Toronto John Tory, Minister of Transport Lisa Raitt and Orlando Bowen, a speaker, trainer and executive director at One Voice One Team.

In addition to providing short-term placements and mentoring, 150 unemployed young people, who have faced multiple barriers to obtaining employment, have been recruited to fill SEEDS summer positions for the Games.

To select the individuals Toronto 2015 worked alongside the City's Partnership to Advance Youth employment and the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
