The fastest time of the repechage was set by China as they crossed the line in 6min 05.60sec to stave off nearest challengers Russia, runners-up in 6:17.73.

Hungary came third in 6:38.95, while Mexico beat Japan to the fourth and final qualification spot for tomorrow’s final, which will also feature Germany and South Korea.

China also led the way in the second of two men’s single sculls semi-finals, posting a time of 5:00.73 to ensure their place in final A.

Runners-up Belarus and third-placed Poland will be joining them, while fourth-placed Lithuania, fifth-placed Bulgaria and sixth-placed Kenya will compete in final B.

South Korea won the first semi-final with a time of 5:01.25 and will join China, Belarus and Poland in final A along with second-placed Germany and third-placed Argentina.

Fourth-placed Japan, fifth-placed Hungary and sixth-placed Austria go up against Lithuania, Bulgaria and Kenya in final B.

Russia won the mixed double sculls repechage in 4:20.47 to advance to the discipline's sole final along with second-placed America, third-placed Argentina and fourth-placed Japan.

Also competing in the six-strong race are China and hosts Italy.

The mixed coxed four repechage saw South Korea triumph with a time of 3:37.62 and they will be joined in final A by runners-up Russia.

Awaiting them are China, Brazil, Australia and Israel.

Final B features the countries that finished fourth down to sixth in the repechage - Austria, Belarus, Zimbabwe and Japan.

The main Paralympic qualification took place at the 2015 World Rowing Championships and the regatta in Gavirate provides the last opportunity for crews to qualify for Rio 2016.

The results of tomorrow’s finals will be decisive with the top two boats in each of the four boat classes qualifying for the Paralympics.
