Japan's Shoma Uno, who won the World Junior Championship gold medal in Estonia's capital Tallinn in 2015, nailed the move during the short programme of the Team Challenge Cup in American city Spokane on April 22.

It has now been confirmed as a "clean" jump by the ISU's Technical Panel.

The move helped Uno to a score of 105.74, a personal best by almost 13 points for the 18-year-old.

He helped Team Asia to victory in the Nations Cup, ahead of rivals North America and Europe.

"I feel like it was 50-50 so I’m really surprised,” Uno told Associated Press.

“I’m really lucky that I made it.”

The competition saw three men and three women represent each continent at the Veterans Memorial Arena in the Washington city.

Uno was third at the ISU Figure Skating Grand Prix final in Barcelona during the 2015-16 season, adding to two medals he claimed at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck in 2012.

He won gold in the team competition for Japan and silver in the men's singles.
