Communications giant Orange, insurance firm MAIF and the Vivendi media corporation have been announced as the latest sponsors of the Paris bid for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The three companies have become official partners of the campaign to bring the Games to the French capital and take the total number of sponsors to 10.

It follows La Française des Jeux, La Caisse des dépôts, Elior Group, JCDecaux and RATP having already pledged their support, along with French banking group BNP Paribas and postal service company La Poste.

In line with the commitment from other sponsors, Orange, MAIF and Vivendi are understood to be paying €2 million (£1.6 million/$2.3 million) each to support the bid, taking the overall sponsorship money raised to €20 million (16 million/$23 million).

Paris 2024 are targeting a total of €30 million (£24 million/$34 million) in sponsorship, with the bid estimated to cost upwards of €60 million (£47 million/$67 million).

Organisers claim each sponsor boasts a strong connection to France and French sport, with Orange among the backers of this year’s Euro 2016 football tournament in the country.

“The arrival of three new companies as Paris 2024 sponsors with deep-rooted connections to France and French sport reaffirms the strength of our bid,” said Etienne Thobois, Paris 2024 chief executive.

“To have 10 major companies signed up as sponsors is a significant achievement and it is a clear statement that businesses across Paris and France are supporting our vision.

“It is clear that they have excellent confidence in our commercial direction and our ability to host a spectacular Games in 2024, offering great value and benefits for the nation’s business community.

“All of our partners are leaders in their industries and their commitment and support will enrich our project by helping to spread our core messages in the delivery of a wonderful festival of sport for Paris and all of France in 2024.”

As an official partner, the sponsors will look to support the bid by activating programmes which will help to increase public and corporate engagement.

MAIF, who work alongside several sports organisations including the French Rowing Federation, have committed to promoting sport throughout the company.

Vivendi will aim to provide expertise on the production and distribution of all campaign content, while Orange, who have around 100,000 employees in France, will focus on innovation to offer the best connected experience for fans and athletes.

Paris are one of four bidders for the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics, alongside Budapest, Los Angeles and Rome.

The International Olympic Committee is due to choose a host city at its Session in Lima in 2017.
