The pair won the men’s and women’s sitting middle distance cross-country races at the German resort to take both their personal tallies for the competition to four golds.

Yarovyi’s success, which goes along with his two other cross-country and one biathlon title at the Championship, also helped the Ukraine claim top spot in the final medal table with 19 golds, 16 silver and 12 bronze.

His latest victory came in a time of 19min 39.4sec which put him 14.9sec ahead of Belarus’ Dzmitry Loban.

Andrew Soule of the United States was third, completing the course in a time of 20:10.4.

“I am really happy because this is my personal best result for gold medals at a World Championships,” Yarovyi said.

“I can’t express my feelings, I am just really happy.”

Masters also won two cross-country titles and a biathlon gold earlier in the week and the US competitor picked her fourth victory up in a time of 14:15.5, beating Germany’s Andrea Eskau by 15secs.

Norwegian skier Birgit Skarstein won bronze in a time of 14:42.4.

“Racing here in Finsterau has been the best days of my career in cross-country and especially biathlon, that was a huge shock,” Masters said.

France’s Benjamin Daviet claimed men’s standing gold in 21:52.9 to add to his biathlon win from the Championships.

Ihor Reptyukh of the Ukraine finished second while Canadian Mark Arendz was third.

There was Ukrainian success in the women’s standing as Oleksandra Kononova defended her world title, with team-mates Liudmyla Liashenko and Iuliia Batenkova coming second and third respectively.

Brian McKeever of Canada picked up his fifth middle distance world title of his career in the men’s visually impaired as he crossed the line with guide Graham Nishikawa.

French skier Thomas Clarion and his guide Antoine Bollet won silver and Belarusian Yury Holub got bronze with guide Dzmitry Budzilovich.

Women’s visually impaired gold was won by Oksana Shyshkova as the Ukrainian topped the podium with guide Vitalii Kazakov.

Belarus’ Sviatlana Sakhanenka and guide Iryna Nafranovich finished in second place while Austrian Carina Edlinger picked up the bronze medal with her brother Julian Josef acting as guide.

The next competition for the skiers will be in the World Cup in Pyeongchang, with the event between March 10 and 15 also acting as a test event for the 2018 Winter Paralympics.
