Singapore's Fung Jin Jie took the bronze medal with 9.48.

"I failed to win a medal in my last two SEA Games and today is a great moment for me to cherish," Yeap, who won two silver medals at the 2013 World Championships in Kuala Lumpur, said.

"I'm glad Wong is on the podium for the silver medal as we prepared really well for this event."

Loh Jack Chang contributed Malaysia’s second gold moments later in the men’s taijijian event.

The 30-year-old scored 9.67, while Indonesia’s Bobby Valentinus Gunawan amassed 9.65 for the silver medal and Singapore’s Chan Un Kai claimed the bronze with 9.62.

It was then Diana Bong’s turn to delight the home crowd, creating history by claiming her fourth career gold medal at the Games in nanquan.

Diana, who won gold medals at the 2007, 2009 and 2013 SEA Games, scored 9.66.

Myanmar's Myint Aye Thitsar went home with the silver medal with 9.64 and Vietnam’s Nguyen Thuc Anh was awarded the bronze with 9.63.

There was also success today for Vietnam’s Thuy Vi Duong, the winner of the women’s jianshu event with 9.67.

Malaysia’s Eyin Phoon had to settle for the silver medal after scoring 9.63, while Singapore’s Hui Xin Fing came third with 9.60 to take the bronze.

Another triumph went the way of Vietnam thanks to Hoang Thị Phuong Giang’s performance in the men’s gun shu event.

Malaysia’s Loh Ying Ting came second with Indonesia’s Felda Elvira Santoso third.

The hosts also tasted success today in rugby sevens, overcoming Singapore 22-7 in the men’s final at the Petaling Jaya Municipal Stadium.

Thailand defeated 2015 SEA Games champions the Philippines 26-7 to take the bronze medal.

In the women’s final, Thailand overcame Singapore 17-10.

Malaysia won the bronze medal with a 7-5 win over the Philippines.

Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, the ruler of Malaysian state Terengganu, claimed gold for the host nation in the equestrian endurance individual event.

Mizan strode on the back of his mount Rtes Annaversary to win the title in a time of 8 hours 23min 4sec at the Terengganu International Endurance Park.

He was followed closely by compatriot Mohd Bulkhari Rozali, who won the silver, while Malaysia's Mohammad Fuad Hashim finished third astride his horse Mora Makaka.

However, competition rules forbid riders from the same team to win all three medals, thus, denying Fuad Hashim the bronze medal.

Thailand’s Warit Khuntaraporn, who came in sixth position, was awarded the bronze instead.

The team gold medal was claimed by the Malaysian team comprising Fuad Hashim, Mohamad Adhwa Embong and Azizatul Asma Abdullah, who rode Mora Franka and Mora Tishaka respectively.

In 10-pin bowling, Muhammad Rafiq Ismail and Adrian Ang secured a one-two finish for Malaysia at Sunway Pyramid Mega Lanes.

Rafiq amassed a six-game score of 1,418 points that was good enough to defend the gold medal he won in Singapore two years ago.

Ang took the silver medal, 16 pins behind Rafiq Ismail, while Indonesia's Yeri Ramadona came third with 1,380.

Singapore’s Cherie Tan Shi Hua scored 1,413 to win the women’s individual event.

Sin Li Jane rolled 1,300 pins for the silver medal and fellow Malaysian Shalin Zulkifli managed 1,297 for bronze.

Archery competition saw Vietnam’s Chu Duc beat Malaysia’s Khairul Anuar Mohamad 6-2 in the men’s individual recurve final at the National Sports Complex Synthetic Turf Field.

Defending champion Witthaya Thamwong of Thailand had to settle for the bronze medal after edging Malaysia's Muhammad Akmal Nor Hasrin 6-2.

Indonesia's Diananda Choirunisa won the women’s individual recurve gold medal, defeating the Philippines’ Nicole Marie Tagle 6-4.

Malaysia’s Nur Aliya Ghapar grabbed the bronze medal after defeating Myanmar's Thida Nwe 6-0.

Gan Hua Wei and Zylane Lee Yhing Huey scored 76.3000 points to earn Malaysia the gold medal in the synchronised swimming duet free routine event at the National Aquatic Centre.

Singapore’s Debbie Soh and Miya Yong Hsing claimed the silver medal with 76.2333 and Indonesia’s Anisa Feritrianti and Claudia Megawati were third with 71.4667.

The team free routine crown went the way of Singapore with Malaysia second and Indonesia third.

Among the other gold medallists today were Singapore in the men’s water polo competition and Malaysia in the netball event.

Malaysia now lead the medal standings with 16 golds, 13 silvers and nine bronzes.

Singapore are second on eight golds, 10 silvers and seven bronzes, while Thailand are third with five golds, four silvers and six bronzes.
