Britain's Gordon Reid has been confirmed as the year-end number one wheelchair men's doubles player by the International Tennis Federation (ITF).

Marjolein Buis of The Netherlands tops the women's doubles standings, while the United States' David Wagner is the top ranked quad doubles player.

Reid secured the men's ranking spot for the second time in three years after winning the season ending UNIQLO Wheelchair Doubles Masters event with his compatriot Alfie Hewett.

The result helped Reid overhaul Stephane Houdet of France in the rankings, while it completed a stunning year for the Briton, having won doubles titles at the Australian and US Opens.

Along with Hewett, Reid was also able to celebrate a second successive title success at Wimbledon.

Buis secured the top women's ranking for the first time in her career, having won four Super Series and two Grand Slam titles during the season.

Her US Open success came alongside fellow Dutchwoman Diede de Groot, while she triumphed with Japan's Yui Kamiji at the French Open.

Buis and de Groot joined forces again to win the UNIQLO Wheelchair Doubles Masters on home soil in Bemmel, while the pair were also runners-up at Wimbledon.

Wagner ended as the world number one in both quad singles and quad doubles for the eighth time in his career.

The American won 11 doubles titles with three partners during 2017, which included triumphing at the Australian Open for the first time with Britain's Andy Lapthorne.

The duo also celebrated their first US Open title together.

Wagner joined up with Nick Taylor for the UNIQLO Wheelchair Doubles Masters, with the three-time Paralympic champions winning the event for a record 10th time.

Sam Schroder of The Netherlands and Antonella Pralong of Argentina were the top ranked boys and girls doubles players.

Last week the ITF announced Gustavo Fernandez of Argentina, Kamiji and Wagner as the top ranked singles players in 2017.
