The American slammed her face into the snow and was left with a cut on the bridge of her nose after a failed attempt at a front side 720 in run one.

It came in tough conditions which had caused a two-hour delay following heavy snowfall overnight.

But she produced a superb second run which included a big front side 720 and cab double cork 900 to score 94.00 points.

This proved enough for her to leapfrog team-mate and reigning X Games champion Julia Marino in the "best score wins" format.

Marino, who will join Anderson on the United States team at next month's Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, took second place with 92.00.

Enni Rukajarvi of Finland placed third with 87.33 points. 

“I’m really happy,” Anderson told ESPN afterwards. 

“That was crazy, definitely tapping into perseverance and rising above chaos. 

"It’s hard out here sometimes but that was fun.”

Canadian Max Parrot also successfully defended his big air crown today.

Parrot scored 75,00 across his two runs to finish two points in front of Norway's Marcus Kleveland.

Yuki Kadono of Japan posted 68.00 for bronze.
