More than 500 Peruvian and international companies attended a Lima 2019 procurement seminar.

The firms involved were all interested in participating in the tender process for technology, broadcasting, commercial and marketing services at next year's Pan American Games.

It was held at the Chamber of Commerce in Peru's capital and led by Lima 2019 President Carlos Neuhaus alongside members of the Games' Organising Committee.

Neuhaus provided an update on preparations for the event and the legal framework behind the procurement process was also explained.

Tenders will be overseen by the UK Government, which has been heavily involved with the Games following an agreement signed with Peru in April.

The procurement process follows the UK's New Engineering Contract model and has allowed Lima 2019 to significantly speed-up its infrastructure projects.

"This marks an important step in the delivery of a memorable Games in 2019," said Neuhaus.

"Every multi-sport event needs a diverse pool of expertise so we are delighted by the number of companies that have participated today.

"Our objective is to deliver a high-calibre event for athletes and fans whilst leaving a meaningful legacy for Lima and Peru.

"That is why we look forward to reviewing proposals and incorporating new talent and experience into the team to help us achieve our goal."

Lima 2019 will take place between July 26 and August 11, and will be followed by the Parapan American Games.
