The Lesotho National Olympic Committee (LNOC) has thanked the facility which helped prepare its athletes for last month's Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Members of staff from the governing body's high performance office visited The Lehakoe Club in capital city Maseru which played a key role for the African nation.

Athletes from Lesotho were given free access to the Club's gym facillities for training and conditioning before they headed to the Games in Australia.

A certificate of appreciation has now been presented to the Club by LNOC.

"We are very proud that Lehakoe has been our official training and testing facility since the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and we look forward to working together to prepare athletes for future success," an LNOC statement said.

Lesotho sent a team of 20 athletes to Gold Coast 2018, where they competed in athletics, boxing, cycling and weightlifting.

They did not take home a medal, although Lerato Sechele narrowly missed out after finishing fourth in the women's triple jump.

The country has won three Commonwealth Games medals in its history, one of each colour.

Their sole gold came courtesy of Thabiso Moqhali in the men's marathon at Kuala Lumpur 1998.

No athlete from Lesotho has yet won an Olympic medal.
