Paralympic gold medallists Turkey overcame defending women's champions United States at the quarter-final stage of the International Blind Sports Federation Goalball World Championships in Malmo.

The Turkish team produced a dominant display at the Baltiska Hallen venue in the Swedish city to reach the last four.

They emerged as 12-2 winners against the US, who bow out of the competition.

Turkey will face the challenge of Brazil in the semi-finals, after the South Americans secured a 5-2 win over Australia.

Russia claimed a 5-1 win over Algeria in their quarter-final to progress.

Canada will be their opposition in the last four, following their narrow 3-2 win over Japan.

Defending men's champions Brazil continued their winning run to secure a semi-final spot today.

Having topped their group with ease, Brazil maintained their form by beating Sweden 9-3.

They are now set to face reigning Paralympic gold medallists Lithuania, who overcame the United States 7-4 in their match.

There were dominant wins for Belgium and Germany in their quarter-final ties, with the European nations poised to go head-to-head tomorrow.

Belgium were 8-1 winners against Sweden, while Germany won 8-0 over China.
