Paralympic champions Brenna Huckaby and Mike Schultz both claimed gold medals for the United States as action concluded today at the World Para Snowboard World Cup in Big White in Canada.

On a second day of snowboard cross competition at Telus Park, Huckaby beat France’s Cecile Hernandez in the women’s lower limb one impairment two final before Schultz defeated Austria’s Reinhold Schett in the equivalent men’s showdown.

The third-place finisher in the men’s lower limb one impairment two category was The Netherlands’ Chris Vos, who overcame America's Noah Elliott in the bronze medal contest.

There was no bronze medal awarded in the women’s lower limb one impairment two category.

Among today’s other winners was home favourite Alex Massie after he prevailed in the men’s lower limb two impairment two final to secure his first-ever triumph on the World Para Snowboard World Cup circuit. 

America's Zach Miller and compatriot Keith Gabel completed the top three.

There were also victories for Poland’s Monika Aleksandra Kotzian, the sole competitor in the women’s upper limb impairment two category, as well as The Netherlands’ Lisa Bunschoten and France’s Maxime Montaggioni.

Bunschoten beat Renske van Beek in an all-Dutch women’s lower limb two impairment two final, while Montaggioni won the men’s upper limb impairment two title ahead of Australia’s Sean Pollard and Italy’s Jacopo Luchini, the silver and bronze medallists respectively.

America's Brittani Coury rounded out the women’s lower limb two impairment two podium by defeating The Netherlands' Anne Garttener in the bronze medal match.

The next stage of the World Para Snowboard World Cup is due to take place in La Molina in Spain from March 4 to 8.
