Two-time world Alpine snowboard champion Dmitry Loginov will be the flag bearer for hosts Russia at the Opening Ceremony of the Krasnoyarsk 2019 Winter Universiade here.

The 19-year-old won two golds in the parallel slalom and parallel giant slalom at the International Ski Federation (FIS) Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships in Utah last month.

He is set to compete in the Winter Universiade and will be Russia's flag bearer at the Platinum Arena, as reported by TASS.

Canada have announced their flag bearer as curler Danielle Schmiemann, who helped her team to the country's only gold at the 2017 Winter Universiade in Almaty.

"I am extremely honoured to have been selected to represent not only curling, but our entire Canadian delegation at the Opening Ceremony of the 2019 Winter Universiade," Schmiemann said.

"Earning the opportunity to wear the maple leaf on your back is always a dream come true, and being able to carry the flag for Canada gives me a great amount of pride and excitement for the upcoming Games."

Australia will be led out by cross-country skier Katerina Paul.

Paul has been competing in the FIS Cross-Country World Cup this season, also featuring at the Under-23 World Ski Championships in Goms in Switzerland.

Her father represented Australia at the 1985 Universiade in Italy.

"Having just come from the World Champs and having had a really strong under-23 season, I am excited to end my season as a Uniroo and to represent La Trobe," she said.

"To also be granted the honour of being the flag bearer, I am now more excited for the next two weeks, not just for myself but the entire Uniroos team."

Alpine skier Yohei Koyama will be the flag bearer for the Japanese delegation.

The Opening Ceremony will begin at 20.19pm here in Krasnoyarsk, kicking off the sporting action in the Russian city.
