The Uruguayan Olympic Committee (COU) held its sports management course for 2019 over four days.

Funding from the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) Olympic Solidarity programme helped fund the project, which has the aim of improving the skills of sports leaders.

COU Board members are encouraged to take part, alongside staff from COU affiliates and other representatives.

The course took place at the COU headquarters in Montevideo.

Dante Steffano and José Veloso, both certified by the IOC, were in charge of the teaching aspects.

Alfredo Etchandy, the National Undersecretary of Sports, and Victoria Diaz, the general manager of the Uruguayan Football Association, were among those to give special presentations on specific topics.

In all, 27 people took part in the course.

COU President Julio Maglione, also an IOC honorary member and President of the International Swimming Federation, brought the event to a close alongside national sports secretary Fernando Cáceres.

The COU hosted an awards ceremony to recognise the country's best sporting performances of the year.

Held at the Radisson Victoria Plaza in Montevideo, the event also celebrated the 95th anniversary of the COU.
