These are record figures for the region for such an event, both in terms of the number of participants and the number of nations represented.

The Pan American Sambo Championships were held from June 28 to 30.

There were two days of sport and combat sambo action before beach sambo competition took centre stage on the last day.

An international sambo referee seminar was staged on the eve of the Championships.
