Sixty athletes and four guides have been selected to represent the United States in track and field at the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games.

Thirty-nine men and 25 women will compete for Team USA at the Athletics Stadium in the Villa Deportiva Nacional Videna cluster.

Twenty-four of these are Paralympians, including double Rio 2016 champion Deja Young, victor in the women's 100 metres and 200m T46.

Jeremy Campbell, winner of the discus F44 and pentathlon P44 at Beijing 2008 and discus F44 at London 2012, will compete, as will reigning Olympic men's 100m T11 champion David Brown.

Sixteen athletes are returning to compete at the Parapan American Games from Toronto 2015, including Brown, who earned gold in the men's 100m and 200m T11.

The US earned 53 medals in track and field four years ago.

“Lima is the beginning of a very exciting year for our programme," said Joaquim Cruz, head coach of the US track and field team.

“The Games will be great preparation for our athletes of all levels to compete internationally ahead of our World Championships and, ultimately, the Paralympic Games next summer.”

Para athletics will take place here from August 24 to 28.

The Parapan American Games will be held from August 23 to September 1.
