Team GB, Ice Hockey UK and Nottingham's National Ice Centre (NIC) teamed up to offer a free ice hockey taster session as part of the "Nation’s Biggest Sports Day".

The "Nation's Biggest Sports Day" provides a variety of opportunities for people with a range of experiences and abilities to to try new activities.

It took place this year for the first time since 2016, when it was used to celebrate the homecoming of British athletes from the Rio Olympic Games. 

The NIC hosted the ice hockey taster session, which included an off-ice skills challenge and family skating session.

Attendees took part in a hockey master challenge and tested out skating, puck control and shooting.

"It was great to be able to work in partnership with Ice Hockey UK and Team GB to give people an opportunity to try ice hockey as part of a national event," said Ryan Rathbone, NIC sports development officer.

"We had a mix of ages trying hockey based activities for the first time.

"It was fantastic to see families getting competitive and having fun together."
