France's Rio 2016 Paralympic Games champion Fabien Lamirault, winner of the class 2 men's singles at the Para European Table Tennis Championships in Sweden, completed a golden double, as he and partner Stephane Molliens won the team title with a 2-0 win over Serbia.

The Serbians had put together a 2-0 win in their semi-final in the Helsingborg Arena against giantkillers Poland, whose pairing of Rafal Czuper and Tomasz Jakimczuk had earlier defeated the Russian second seeds.

But the Serbian pairing of Boris Stoiljkovic and Goran Perlic were overwhelmed in the final, as they lost the opening doubles 3-1 before Lamirault delivered the coup de grace by beating Stoiljkovic 3-0 in the first singles match.

Poland’s fortunes were better in the men's class 10, where they beat France 2-1 in the final, and the women's team classes 6-8, where Dajana Jastrzebska and Katarzyna Marszal earned a 2-1 win over Germany.

Home fans got behind Emil Andersson and Daniel Gustafsson as they defeated Hungary 2-0 to earn a place in the men's class 9 final, but they found the opposition from Ukraine too strong, losing 2-0 against pairing Lev Kats and Maksym Nikolenko.

Ukraine also ended Britain's hopes of gold in the men's class 8 final, where Aaron McKibbin and Ross Wilson lost 2-0 to Viktor Dudukh and Ivan Mai.

But Britain had a gold to celebrate in the men's class 6 final, where David Wetherill, who had reached the men's singles semi-finals against the odds, and Paul Karabardak earned a 2-1 win over the Greek pairing of Marios Chatzikyriakos and Georgios Mouchthis.
