Their first game of the day at The Sevens Stadium was a tricky quarter-final against Argentina, which they just edged 12-5.

Samoa failed to put up much of a fight in the semi-final, as the Blitzboks ran out 38-7 winners, with tries for Zain Davids, Chris Dry, Siviwe Soyizwapi, Ruhan Nel, Seabelo Senatla and Selvyn Davids.

Their opponents in the final were defending champions New Zealand, who were far too strong for the United States in the quarter-finals, cruising through 26-5.

However, the semi-final against England wasn't so straightforward.

A Dan Norton try helped England to a 7-5 lead at halftime, and when a Harry Glover try tied the scores at 12-12 the match was on a knife-edge.

But New Zealand replacement Salesi Rayasi had the final say, scoring a crucial try in the dying moments to send the men in black into the final, with a 19-12 win.

That semi-final victory appeared to take a lot out of the All Blacks, with South Africa perfectly placed to take advantage.

A try from Soyizwapi just on halftime gave them a 5-0 advantage, and when Dry added a second five-pointer on 10 minutes, the match was as good as won.

The South African victory was sealed by a try in the dying moments by Senatla, rounding out a 15-0 triumph - just one month on from lifting the Rugby World Cup in Japan. 

England bounced back to win the bronze final against Samoa, 19-17.

The Series now moves to Cape Town next Friday (December 13), with the Blitzboks huge favourites to continue their dominance at their home competition.
