The seven gold medals awarded on day two of the United World Wrestling Ranking Series event in Rome were spread between as many countries.

Among the winners at the Italian capital's Centro Olimpico Matteo Pellicone was Nigeria’s Odunayo Adekuoroye, who beat India’s Anshu Anshu 10-0 in the women's 57 kilograms final.

The other women's gold medal matches saw Kyrgyzstan’s Aisuluu Tynybekova defeat Russia’s Liubov Ovcharova 7-2 at 62kg, China’s Zhou Feng edge the United States’ Tamyra Mensah at 68kg and Canada’s Erica Wiebe overcome China’s Zhou Qian 10-0 at 76kg. 

Canada’s Linda Morais and America's Allison Ragan were the 57kg bronze medallists, while the 62kg bronze medals went to China’s Long Jia and Ukraine’s Yuliya Ostapchuk.

Rounding off the 68kg podium were Canada’s Danielle Lappage and Nigeria’s Blessing Oborududu, and the third-place finishers at 76kg were Russia’s Natalia Vorobeva and Germany’s Aline Rotter-Focken.

Turkish wrestlers were beaten in all three Greco-Roman finals, with Selcuk Can losing 6-5 to Egypt’s Mohamed Ibrahim El-Sayed at 72kg, Yunus Emre Başar beaten 5-1 by Hungary’s Zotlan Levai at 77kg, and Burhan Akbudak defeated 8-5 by India's Gurpreet Singh at 82kg.

Turkey’s Cengiz Arslan and Ukraine’s Maksym Yevtushenko were the 72kg bronze medallists.

The 77kg bronze medals went to Venezuela’s Wuileixis de Jesus Rivas Espinoza and India’s Sajan Sajan, while Germany’s Florian Neumaier and Turkey’s Salih Aydin rounded off the 82kg podium.

Competition is due to continue tomorrow.

A further eight finals are scheduled to take place.
