This year's World Snow Day is being celebrated in 45 countries ©FIS

A total of 363 events and activities are taking place across 45 countries today as part of the ninth edition of World Snow Day.

"Once again World Snow Day has exceeded expectations," said Gian Franco Kasper, President of the International Ski Federation.

“This is great achievement and testament to how important children and families are to snow sports.”

World Snow Day 2020 involves a wide array of activities in a variety of locations from Alpine environments to major cities.

There are 72 events throughout China with free or discounted ski lessons, equipment rental and lift passes.

In Poland there are ski and snowboard schools and free lessons for children, while Norway is staging an open day in Norway with reduced cost lift passes for all.

World Snow Day will feature in schools around Lithuania, there will be special lift ticket prices and free lessons for children at Lake Louise in Canada, ski and snowboard lessons throughout the Engadin valley in Switzerland, children’s snow festivals in Tallinn in Estonia and in Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia.

World Snow Day partners Atomic have also been offering skiing families have a chance to win a family set of skis in the #atomicsnowday competition.
