Rwanda have selected 14 players in a training squad as their women's sitting volleyball side prepares for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.

The team hope to begin preparations for the Games in Japan's capital this month after their schedule is approved by the Ministry of Sports.

Tokyo 2020 will be the second Paralympics for Rwanda after they also qualified for Rio 2016, becoming the first African women's sitting volleyball team to do so.

They booked their place in September after winning the African Sitting Volleyball Championships on home soil in Kigali.

"We have selected 14 players to start training once the Ministry approves the schedule," said the team's assistant coach Jean Marie Nsengiyumva to All Africa.

Rwanda will also play in the Intercontinental Championship in China in April.
