Russia broke Germany's dominance of the luge events with victory in the mixed team relay at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in St Moritz.

Diana Loginova, Pavel Repilov and the doubles team of Mikhail Karnaukhov and Iurii Chirva clocked 2min 54.072sec to secure gold at the Olympia Bob Run.

The Russian squad finished 0.550sec ahead of Germany as women's individual champion Merle Malou Fraebel, Timon Grancagnolo and men's doubles gold medallists Valentin Steudte and Moritz Jaeger were forced to settle for silver in 2:54.622.

Latvia's Justine Maskale, men's individual Youth Olympic champion Gints Berzins and the doubles duo of Kaspars Rinks and Ardins Liepins took bronze in 2:54.954.

The triumph for Russia was their first in luge events at Lausanne 2020, which had been dominated by the German team.

"We talked before the start a lot and we bumped fists," said Loginova.

"We’re a good team.

"I don’t know how we’ll celebrate.

"Maybe we’ll get a party.

"The Winter Youth Olympics was a great start for my career and I got 100 new subscribers on Instagram in this time.

"Is that the most important thing?

"Yeah! I am famous."
