The second to last aerials event of the International Ski Federation (FIS) Freestyle Ski World Cup season is set to take place in Almaty tomorrow.

Men's and women's competition will be held in the Oi-Qaragai resort in the Kazakh city.

Coming into the event, Russia's Maxim Burov tops the FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup standings for men's aerials.

The world champion has 273 points to his name, giving him a lead of 19 over compatriot Pavel Krotov and Switzerland's Noé Roth.

On the women's side, China's Xu Mengtao is out in front on 325 points.

Australia's Laura Peel, who picked up her first win of the season in Belarus' capital Minsk last Saturday (February 29), is in second place on 319 points.

Reigning world champion Aliaksandra Ramanouskaya of Belarus occupies third spot on 260 points.

Almaty is also due to play host to a dual moguls event on Sunday (March 1).
