Australia’s Breanna Walker, joint winner of the Königssee race in this season’s International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) women’s monobob series, earned outright gold in La Plagne today.

Walker, who made sports history at Lillehammer in November 2018 as she won the first-ever race in an event that is due to make its Olympic debut in Beijing in 2022, won both runs at the French resort in a total of 2min 11.49sec.

Second place went to the Dutch slider who won both events at the last leg of the series in Park City, Karlien Sleper, who recorded a time of  2:12.27.

Mica McNeil of Britain took bronze at +0.96sec, with fourth place going to Romania’s Andreea Vlad at +1.24.

As in Park City, there will be a second day of racing in La Plagne tomorrow before the tour moves on to its final stop on April 3 at the venue where it began - Lake Placid in the United States.

At the Königssee leg of the tour on December 19, Walker and China's Ying Qing finished joint top with a total of 1:50.73 despite the fact that neither of them finished higher than second in either run.
