Japanese wrestlers Sara Dosho and Keisuke Otoguro have won selection playoffs to secure their place at their home Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Dosho will compete for a second straight Olympic title after beating national champion Miwa Morikawa in the women’s freestyle 68 kilograms category at the Ajinomoto National Training Center in Kita, a special ward of Tokyo.

"Because it was win or else, I’m relieved," Dosho, the 69kg gold medallist at Rio 2016, was reported as saying by The Japan Times.

"I was able to execute all the things I’ve been working on.

"I had a strong will to beat her and go to the Olympics."

Otoguro earlier clinched selection for the men’s freestyle 74kg category by defeating Mao Okui in his playoff.

The 23-year-old will wrestle on the Olympic team alongside younger brother Takuto, the 2018 world champion who will contest the men’s freestyle 65kg.

"It hasn’t sunk in yet, but of course I’m happy," Otoguro was reported as saying by The Japan Times.

"I was able to stay calm.

"For the Olympics I’d like to have a plan so that I can peak at the right time."
