The International Cycling Union (UCI) has announced no events on the international road calendar will take place until the end of April.

The announcement follows the Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO) confirming they had postponed this year's editions of Paris-Roubaix, Flèche Wallonne, Liège-Bastogne-Liège and the Tour de Yorkshire due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The ASO confirmed they would work with the UCI and other parties concerned in an attempt to reorganise the races.

A statement from the UCI said priority will be given to the events already on the calendar at the date of the season resuming.

Priority in the men's calendar will also be given, depending on space available and the possibility of overlapping, to the three Grand Tour events and cycling's monument races.

The year's first Grand Tour, the Giro D'Italia, has already been postponed from its planned start date of May 9 in the Hungarian capital Budapest.

The UCI said it hoped their decision would help to guarantee visibility of the sport and ensure the best exposure for the most-watched races.

The governing body added the men's and women's road season could be extended until November 1, while flexibility could be given to the number of riders entered by teams at races.

The principles were agreed by the UCI with representatives of riders, teams and organisers, with the decisions now set to be approved by the UCI Management Committee and the Professional Cycling Council.

The latest postponements include Paris-Roubaix, with the one-day classic due to take place on April 12.

This year's event was due to be the 118th edition of the race, which first began in 1896.

Since the inaugural edition, the race has only been disrupted by World Wars, which stopped the event from taking place on seven occasions.

The cyclosportives Paris-Roubaix Challenge was also postponed by ASO.

Flèche Wallonne and Flèche Wallonne Women were due to take place on April 22, with the men's and women's races at Liège-Bastogne-Liège scheduled for April 26.

The Liège-Bastogne-Liège Challenge sportive event has also been postponed.

A total of 17 races on the men's UCI WorldTour circuit have now been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, while both the UAE Tour and Paris-Nice concluded early due to the outbreak.

The Amstel Gold Race on April 19 will also not take place, following the agreement reached by the UCI.

The Eschborn–Frankfurt one-day race on May 1 is among the latest postponements, with organisers hoping to reschedule for either September or October.

Men's WorldTour racing could resume with the Critérium du Dauphiné on May 31, which is considered a key race in the build-up to the Tour de France.

The Tour de Suisse will follow, with the Tour de France then due to begin on June 27.

The Tour de Yorkshire and the Tour de Yorkshire Women’s race, which are not part of the WorldTour, have also been postponed by ASO.

The events had been scheduled to be held between April 30 and May 3 in the English county.

ASO say they are working with Welcome to Yorkshire and British Cycling on alternative dates, while a decision was also taken to postpone the sportive event.
