The call for the 2023 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Planica in Slovenia is due to take place on March 31.

It will be followed by that for the 2021 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in German town Oberstdorf on April 3, the 2023 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Courchevel-Meribel in France on April 16, and the 2021 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Italian town Cortina d'Ampezzo on April 29.

During the calls, the Organising Committees will present the Coordination Group an update about the current status of the preparations.

"Due to the current circumstances, it is not possible to have the Coordination Group meetings on site as planned," a FIS statement reads.

"But even during the current coronavirus crisis, the preparations for the future events are continuing in all aspects where this permits.

"Therefore, in coordination with the respective Organising Committees, their National Ski Associations, the broadcast and commercial rights holders and other stakeholders, FIS will stage them as conference calls instead of inspections visits and in-person meetings."

The next Coordination Group meetings, including site and venue visits, are scheduled for autumn 2020.

If an additional technical inspection is deemed necessary by the FIS Competition Management, it will be carried out as soon as circumstances permit, the world governing body says.

Last week, the FIS held a special event on its mobile game, FIS Ski Racing, to fill the void left by the cancellation of the Alpine Ski World Cup Finals in Cortina d'Ampezzo due to the coronavirus pandemic.

From March 18 to 22, the first-ever FIS Alpine World Cup e-Finals took place.

The overall winners received a pair of VIP tickets for the 2021 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships.
