Initially running until tomorrow, the Beat the Outbreak Online Archery League will see those at home shoot at printable A4 targets while all international competition is suspended.

Those interested in competing are encouraged to join the Facebook group of the same name, of which there are already more than 2,000 members. 

Rules for the competition include scoring from one point to five, with distances from the target ranging from five to 18 metres depending on the archer.

Participants then will have to submit their scores online, as more than 180 have done to date. 

There are 15 targets, with the highest score possible being 75.

"At the end of each week, the top scorers at each distance and in each bowstyle will be recognised," said World Archery.

"The competition is friendly, it's an honesty only rule system and the goal is for archers to compete with other archers, even if it's from the safety of their own homes.

There have been in excess of 615,000 confirmed coronavirus cases worldwide, with more than 28,000 people dying as a result.
