Two Chinese women's ice hockey players have tested positive for COVID-19 after returning home from the United States, the Chinese Ice Hockey Association (CIHA) has announced.

The team were training in the US and the pair tested positive after a two-week quarantine. 

"With the pandemic surging in the US, the team returned home on March 13 and none of its 11 members had a fever when their body temperature was checked upon landing," the CIHA said.

"Then they were put in quarantine for 14 days as required and two of them tested positive at the end of the quarantine period.

"Now the two infected players are receiving medical treatment in a designated hospital, both are feeling well with mild symptoms. 

"The rest of the team are healthy and will receive further medical observation under quarantine."

China's team competed at the Junior Women's Hockey League Challenge Cup at Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Washington D.C from February 14 to 18.

Three Chinese fencers also tested positive for COVID-19 following an Olympic qualifier in Budapest in Hungary.
