Twelve-time Paralympic medallist Chelsey Gotell and Belgian badminton player Yuhan Tan have joined the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Athlete Committee.

WADA this week published the composition of all five of its Standing Committees, which have been capped at 12 members as part of governance reforms initiated by the global anti-doping watchdog.

Gotell, who chairs the International Paralympic Committee Athletes' Council, and Tan are among the appointments confirmed by the WADA Executive Committee.

The Athlete Committee for 2020 comprises five less representatives than last year.

Former Kenyan distance runner Tegla Loroupe, International Olympic Committee (IOC) member Hayley Wickenheiser, American Para-cyclist Greta Neimanas, German rower Richard Schmidt and former Dutch decathlete Chiel Warners have all left the Committee.

Britain's Victoria Aggar, a Paralympic rower, quit the Athlete Committee in December in protest at WADA opting not to impose a blanket ban on Russian athletes as punishment for the manipulation of the Moscow Laboratory data.

New Zealand's Ben Sandford was confirmed as the successor to Beckie Scott as chairman of the Athlete Committee when WADA revealed the new Standing Committee chairs in January.

The composition of the Compliance Review Committee remains the same other than experienced Australian lawyer and judge James Wood replacing Jonathan Taylor, whose mandate expired on December 31, as chairman.

Singapore's Ser Miang Ng, a member of the IOC Executive Board, will lead the Finance and Administration Committee, while Kady Kanouté Tounkara, a former Malian basketball player who co-captained the women's team at Beijing 2008, chairs the Education Committee.

Norway's Lars Engebretsen has taken over as chairman of the Health, Medical and Research Committee, a role last held by IOC vice-president Uğur Erdener.

"WADA is very grateful to the dozens of very able volunteers who provide their time and expertise to the Agency’s Standing Committees," WADA President Witold Bańka said.

"The Committees play a key advisory role in policy and priority development for the agency.

"The members’ commitment in applying their competencies is crucial to advancing the agency’s mission as the leader of clean sport."
