The People's Bank of China is set to issue several commemorative coins ahead of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics in the nation.

After signing an agreement with the Beijing Organising Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the People's Bank of China will issue the coins for the 24th Winter Games.

The collection will feature two ordinary commemorative coins, two commemorative banknotes and 19 gold and silver commemorative coins.

The coins will feature the winter sports as well as the nature and the culture of the host city and the history and development of China's ice and snow sports.

They will come in the form of "exquisite designs, superb casting skills and outstanding cultural details," according to the People's Bank of China.

Olympic edition coins have become a collectors item with some London 2012 coins worth more than a hundred times their value in currency.
