British Olympic athletes are recreating sports at home and sharing the results on video platform TikTok under the hashtag "#IsolationGames".

Those taking part include hockey player Sam Ward, gymnastics gold medallist Max Whitlock, snowboarder Aimee Fuller and diving silver medallist Leon Taylor.

Ward originally came up with the idea to show that sports can be adapted to fit in most households - appropriate with the country currently in lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, confining most to their homes.

"With sport being pretty much cancelled, why not create something in our own homes, create how you see each sport and learn about what others love to do," Ward said.

"Make sure you get involved with the #IsolationGames and show us what you can create."

The campaign also involves an opportunity to donate to charity, with TikTok supporting fundraising efforts for the British Red Cross, the official charity partner of Team GB.

Money raised will go towards food and medicine, supporting refugees and asylum seekers as well as those working for the country's National Health Service (NHS).

George Nikolaou, European community manager for TikTok, added that the company is proud to be working with Team GB.

"Our community always surprises us with their creativity and they love a sporting challenge, so we're expecting them to get behind this with some fantastic contributions from creators and athletes too," Nikolaou said.

Ed Jones, Team GB's head of marketing, said: "During this difficult time we're keen to keep the nation active and entertained, be it through workouts, iconic moments or fun initiatives like this one.

"Sam Ward has brought Olympic sport to life in the comfort of his own home in a fun and engaging way and now working with TikTok and the British Red Cross we want to see people create their own #IsolationGames."

Most of the videos take a humorous approach to Olympic disciplines.

One features Ward slowly sliding down the stairs while practising skeleton, while another shows Taylor being distracted by his dog and therefore posting a poor diving score.
