Spanish archer Ignacio Gomez Sancha has said he will donate €20,000 (£17,500/$22,000) to the COVID-19 relief effort if he receives 1,000 videos of people training in their own homes.

Sancha, who is inviting videos to be sent to him on social media, has received around 250 so far and has pledged €20 (£17.50/21) for each one.

His fundraising drive comes after he became infected with COVID-19, alongside other members of his family.

"I am doing this to convey motivation so that everybody can see how many people are still training at home," the 49-year-old Sancha, who competes in recurve events, said.

"All my family, myself included, have had COVID-19 and so far have survived.

"My advice is not to fear it but go to the doctor at the first symptoms.

"It is key to catch it early."

Archers to have taken part so far include Spanish barebow world champion David Garcia Fernandez and British coach Richard Priestman.
