International Equestrian Federation (FEI) will make decisions on the fate of their Championships in June, as their calendar task forces presented proposals during a Board meeting.

The FEI Board meeting was held by teleconference and reviewed proposals from their discipline specific calendar task forces.

The six groups are overseeing the calendars for jumping, dressage, eventing, driving, vaulting and reining disciplines.

“The FEI Board agreed that discussions and decisions on FEI Championships for all age categories and disciplines, and potential initiatives to help organisers, will be deferred to its June meeting,” the FEI said.

“National Federations and organisers whose calendar date applications/modifications have been approved by the FEI during the Covid-19 period have been informed that no guarantee of exclusivity will be provided to them for the new calendar dates and that equal consideration of all future calendar date applications/modifications will be given by the relevant calendar task force and by the FEI Board.”

Among the measures approved was the cancellation of the Dressage Nations Cup series, due to all but one of the competitions having been cancelled due to the pandemic.

The FEI added that due to uncertainty about the organisation of competitions worldwide during July and August 2020, the Board approved all calendar date applications for jumping events up to August 30.

The governing body said that no date clash rules will apply for this period.

Applications to modify the dates for high level dressage events must reach the FEI by eight weeks prior to the event.

This time frame is reduced to six weeks for eventing long format events, while short formats and other eventing competitions must reach the governing body four weeks prior to competition.

Date modifications for driving, vaulting and reigning disciplines should be made to the FEI four weeks prior to the event.

The FEI said the two calendar task force meetings will be held over the coming days, with both the endurance and para-dressage groups set to meet.

Proposals from these two task forces will be discussed by the FEI Board on May 5.

The dressage calendar task force held its second meeting yesterday to review applications received for higher-level events.

The jumping and eventing task forces will hold their next meetings on May 4 and May 14 respectively.
