Beijing 2022 has begun its search to find the designer of official uniforms to be worn by staff and volunteers at the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Organisers have launched a global appeal for designers to submit their proposals for the visual appearance of the uniforms across six categories - outdoor functional sport jacket, functional sport pants, fleece jacket, woven pants, knitted hat and neck warmer.

Beijing 2022 said the designs should include design description, flat diagrams of appearance and wearing effect drawings.

The Organising Committee has set a deadline of 5pm Beijing time on June 10 for the designs to be submitted.

A prize of RMB100,000 (£11,500/$14,100/€13,000) is on offer for the person whose designs are chosen by organisers, to be submitted to the International Olympic Committee for approval.

Those shortlisted in the top 10 will all be awarded a cash bonus, ranging from RMB100,000 for the chosen proposal down to RMB10,000 (£1,150/$1,400/€1,300).

"The clothing design is an integral part of the look of the Games. It is a much-anticipated and memorable part of image of our Games,” said Yan Cheng, Beijing 2022's human resources director.

"Through the clothing design, we wish to reflect Olympic values, the vision of Beijing 2022, and the rich history and splendour of Chinese civilisation.

"We hope it can help stir positive emotions and express China’s Olympic story to the world."
