This year's Mole's Cup, an international baseball tournament for visually-impaired players, has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The event was due to take place in Freising in Germany from September 3 to 5, being hosted by the club Bavarian Bats.

Freising will instead hold the 10th edition of the Mole's Cup a year later than planned in 2021.

Six teams took part in the 2019 edition of the tournament, representing Italy, France, Germany, Cuba, the United States and the United Kingdom.

Hosts Italy were victorious, beating Cuba in the final.

Organisers are hopeful that teams from Pakistan, Panama and Argentina will also be able to compete in the next edition of the event.

The Mole's Cup was originally established by baseball for the blind teams from France, Germany and Italy.

Last year's event in Rome was the first time teams from the UK, US and Cuba had taken part.

Organised by the Italian Baseball Association for the Blind (AIBXC), the top Italian league features 11 teams, with its best players winning the Mole's Cup for Italy a year ago.
