No host or date had been confirmed for the flagship event but FITEQ have confirmed they have pushed it into 2021.

However, the National Challenger Series will continue to allow athletes the chance to earn qualification points for the World Championships, while also acting as a way to earn world ranking points and prize money.

The window for the National Challenger Series events that allow World Championship qualification points will be extended until at least the end of January 2021.

"The current situation with COVID-19 has unfortunately left FITEQ with no option but to postpone this year's World Championships," said FITEQ general secretary, Marius Vizer Jr.

"We have been monitoring the global status of the pandemic very closely in recent months in the hope that we would be able to host our flagship event. 

"However, we must continue to make the safety of our athletes, their teams and the general public our number one priority and it is clear that organising an event with over 75 countries competing is not a viable option in this calendar year. 

"We understand the disappointment this will cause but we can assure National Federations, athletes, coaches and fans that they have FITEQ's unwavering support during these difficult times and that we will return with the best-ever Teqball World Championships in 2021."

There have been three Teqball World Championships to date, with the 2017 and 2019 editions taking place in Budapest in Hungary. 

The 2018 World Championships were hosted in Reims in France.
