Chen is set to compete at a spectator-less Skate America in Las Vegas from October 23 to 25.

He will be joined by American team-mate and 2019 world bronze medallist Vincent Zhou and two-time world figure skating pairs silver medallists Evgenia Tarasova and Vladimir Morozov of Russia, as well as two-time ISU Four Continents Figure Skating champions Madison Chock and Evan Bates and two-time world figure skating ice dance medallists Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue, both from the US.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this year's six ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating events will feature domestic skaters or those who train in the host country or respective geographical region.

Skaters are also limited to one Grand Prix start this season.

Contesting Skate Canada in Ottawa from October 30 to November 1 is due to be Japan's two-time world medallist Satoko Miyahara.

Canada's ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships silver medallists Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier, and bronze medallists Kirsten Moore-Towers and Michael Marinaro have also confirmed their attendance, alongside Cha Jun-hwan of South Korea and Jason Brown of the United States.

The Shiseido Cup of China, scheduled for November 6 to 8 in Chongqing, also boasts a star-studded line-up, all from China. 

This includes world champions Wenjing Sui and Cong Han, Four Continents Figure Skating Championships silver medallists Cheng Peng and Yang Jin, and two-time ISU world bronze medallist Boyang Jin.

Competition then moves to Europe for the Internationaux de France in Grenoble from November 13 to 15. 

The event features France's four-time world ice dance champions Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron, and Japan's Olympic silver medallist Shoma Uno and two-time ISU Four Continents Figure Skating champion Rika Kihira.

Next is set to be the Rostelecom Cup in Moscow from November 20 to 22.

Russian competitors include European champions Aleksandra Boikova and Dmitrii Kozlovskii, Alena Kostornaia, and Dmitri Aliev, alongside 2018 Olympic silver medalist Evgenia Medvedeva.

The sixth event is the NHK Trophy in Osaka from November 27 to 29.

Top Japanese contenders include 2018 world silver medallist Wakaba Higuchi, 2018 ISU Four Continents Figure Skating champion Kaori Sakamoto and Youth Olympic Games champion Yuma Kagiyama.

Japan's two-time Olympic champion Yuzuru Hanyu is among the high-profile drop outs from the Grand Prix as a result of the global health crisis. 

This year's ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, which was due to be held from December 10 to 13 in Beijing, has been postponed.

It was due to take place at the Capital Indoor Stadium, which is scheduled to host figure skating and short track speed skating during the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. 

The ISU cited the proximity to festive holidays and National Championships as reasons behind the decision, while also highlighting that the number of participants could be affected depending on the status of quarantine regulations.

As in many other sports, the ISU calendar was severely impacted by the pandemic. 

This year's World Figure Skating Championships in Montreal, arguably the highest-profile event in winter sport, was cancelled.
