Img214148433December 26 - International Paralympic Committee (IPC) chief executive Xavier Gonzalez (pictured) has been in Moscow to discuss preparations for the Sochi 2014 Winter Games.


Gonzalez was present with the IPC Paralympic Games senior manager, Thanos Kostopoulous, to meet the Organising Committee of Sochi 2014, including its chief executive and President Dmitry Chernyshenko and Mikhail Terentiev of the Russian Paralympic Committee.

It was also the 15 year anniversary of the Russian Paralympic Committee, who were represented at the discussions by Terentiev.

They discussed preparations for test events, the Paralympic Awareness Programme, the torch relay and the location of the medal plaza.

"This Project Review once again proved to us that the Sochi 2014 Organising Committee is doing an excellent job and we are very content with the progress of the preparations," said Gonzalez.

"Next year will be an important year for Sochi 2014, when they start testing their operations at the first test events."
