The Austrian Disabled Sports Association (OBSV) says it is excited to be able to launch a new digital platform for the country's wheelchair basketball league.

The new system is being introduced by Social City Vienna, which specialises in launching new projects within the Austrian capital.

The platform includes an artificial intelligence camera system which follows the flow of wheelchair basketball games, tracks highlights and creates replays without human intervention.

Thanks to the launching of the platform, all sporting activities and competitions organised by the ÖBSV will be recorded, with the content able to be used by Austrian media.

The software features an editing function which produces content in a text format similar to that of a news agency, meaning information will also be available in print.

It is hoped this exciting project will enable greater visibility and exposure for disabled sport in Austria, a sentiment echoed by the country's wheelchair basketball national team captain Matthias Wastian.

"I believe that active athletes always value visibility and reach," said Wastian.

"You are happy about every person you reach, be it as a fan or sponsor or another person with disabilities who can be encouraged to become active in health sports. I’m a technical mathematician.

"As such, I am incredibly enthusiastic about such highly innovative technological solutions."

As part of the system's launch a content and video platform will be created.

It is hoped that the media will be able to implement the content through a copy and paste style process, making the system as easy to use as possible.
