Kim Sei-young shot seven birdies in her last 12 holes to take a solo lead after two rounds of the Women's Professional Golf Association of America (PGA) Championship at four under par.

The South Korean, the world number seven and a past Women's PGA Championship runner-up, shot a five-under 65.

That is tied for the best round of the day, along with Jennifer Kupcho and Bianca Pagdanganan.

American Kupcho shot a bogey-free 65 to move into a tie for second place at Aronimink Golf Club in Pennsylvania, one shot off the lead.

Asian Games team gold medallist Pagdanganan of the Philippines is six shots off the pace overall.

American Danielle Kang, the world number three, is one of four players tied for second following a one-under 69.

The Women's PGA Championship winner in 2017, Kang won two events in August and is a player in form.

Carlota Ciganda of Spain also shot 69 to be tied for second place, while Anna Nordqvist's 68 did the same for her.

Nordqvist, a Swede, won this event in 2009 and is a two-time major winner.

Malaysia's Kelly Tan, a co-leader after round one, and New Zealand's former world number one Lydia Ko are among five players tied for sixth place.

Sweden's Linnea Ström, South African Ashleigh Buhai and Lauren Stephenson of the United States - who would be tied for second, but for a bogey on the 18th - are also on two under.

American overnight co-leader Brittany Lincicome is a further shot back.

Australian Hannah Green, the defending champion, is five over par after an impressive 66 today and will make the cut.

Olympic champion Park Inbee - a seven-time major winner - remains on even par, tied for 14th at the tournament's halfway stage
